Moving Brands Lecture

Mixed Reality (XR) talk.

Dont just think of AR as one window, use sound, wearables (for motion) etc.

Make a prototype before pitching so investors can already see you are working on it.

Combine digital and physical objects into the same space. It is possible to make a mesh around a physical object to convert it into digital space.

Introducing digital 3D elements to physical 3D spaces – the unexpected.

Dont just keep AR in a fixed position: try to move it around and use the fact that people can move in real space with it. Encourage people to move around. (Placing a leaver away from the player to make them move towards it). Think about vertical and horizontal tracking: doesnt just have to be played on a table, what about on the side/wall of something

How would multiplayer environments effect AR experiences?

Doesnt always have to be a digital prototype. Break it down into single sections. Focus on the AR specific stuff for digital prototype.

Prototype doesnt have to be perfect in order to pitch something: With the AR car it had to be in a specific position for it to work.

Have a willingless to understand that object recognition will change over time because no one knows how to do it perfectly yet.

Make machine recognisable materials that maybe humans dont notice. For example: a pattern in a plank of wood would look natural to a human but could be recognised by a computer because its specific.

White space paper: a written document to present a new idea that might be taken forward or used in the future.

Contraints to think about

Ergonomic strain: people wont want to hold a phone up for a long time which makes you think about the duration of each interaction.

Simple interactivity: people dont want to read floating text (in digital/AR space).

Distance to organise spaces and methods of interaction (if something is closer or needs to be interacted with using your hands, you might want to track fingers or hands etc.)
